Tiwa Savage, the first lady of Mavin Records, granted an interview on BBC while she was in London shopping for her upcoming wedding. Read how BBC described her:
It has been a momentous year for Nigerian singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage, who has just released her debut album and been nominated at the Music of Black Origin (Mobo) awards for best African act.
Born in Lagos, she spent a large amount of her life in the UK and US and started out working as a backing vocalist for artists such as George Michael, Sting and Mary J Blige.
She has also written songs for other musicians, including Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.
The musician spoke to BBC Focus on Africa’s Sophie Ikenye about how her career has taken centre stage.
