The fear of Boko Haram attack on the University of Maiduguri, Borno
State, on Sunday caused panic on the campus. This has led many of the
students to flee the institution.
It will be recalled that two persons were reported to have died on Friday when stray bullets hit them when insurgents attacked the campus with rocket propelled grenades.
This development fuelled speculations that the insurgents have invaded the campus and detonated explosive devices.
But the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Mala Daura, said there was no plan to close down the institution as it was not under any threat of insurgency attack.
He also cautioned students against fleeing the campus in fear, insisting that the authorities had put all measures in place to ensure their security.
