According to other neighbours, the suspect was engaged in a
fight with the victim, one Mrs. Ndidi Eze at their residence at 20, Brinfalami
Street, Ejigbo area of the state and in the process, Mrs Ejike grabbed the
victim's left ear and bit off a portion which she allegedly swallowed.
Mrs. Eze was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The neighbours added that both women have always fought
since they started living in the house.
When Mrs Ejike was first charged to court and appeared
before Magistrate M.B.Folami, she pleaded guilty and was remanded in prison
custody at Kirikiri, Lagos while the case was adjourned for sentencing.
But when the case was called up again on Monday, she changed
her plea to not guilty and her counsel, Barister Ogbedeleto asked that she be
granted bail by the court.
However, the complainant,
Mrs Eze had written a withdrawal letter for the case to be discontinued
and so the court struck it out and the suspect was set free.
