Suspects Reveals How They Killed Wedding Guests In Kano State

 
Three suspects responsible for killing six persons at a wedding Unguwa Uku in Kano state on March 30th have revealed how they committed such atrocity.
The suspects identified as Abdullahi Shuaibu, Abubakar Musa and Abubakar Aliyu alias Kwalla of Unguwa Ukuhad penultimate Sunday diluted ‘Zobo’, a popular local drink, with a local gin known as ‘Zakami’ during the wedding of one Ahmed Tijjani Musa, a tricycle operator in Unguwa-Uku area of Tarauni local government.              The victims were reported to have died after which the drinking the local gin which was served during the wedding,while the suspects disappeared.

Their death led to chaos at the wedding ceremony which in turn led to the arrest of the groom who was detained in the police station.
Meanwhile residents are however saying it was only two persons died.
One of the suspects, Abubakar Musa, said they prepared the poisonous substance at their regular hang-out. “We took Zakami leaves, ground them and mixed to the Zobo drink. We only wanted to get high from it. Those who died simply overdosed,” he said.
One of the the groom’s friends, Mohammad Jamilu Lawal, said his friend was not the one who gave the late guests the drink. “I’m the best friend of the groom, and I was in charge of food. The deceased guests drank the ‘Zakami’ from another wedding and not Tijjani’s. It was after they drank it that they came to our area,” he said.
Apparently the arrest of the suspects parent led to their arrest.
The spokesperson of the command, ASP Magaji Musa Majia who warned the public to be mindful of what they consume at celebrations said the suspects confessed to the deed. “Exhibits of mortar, pestle and Zakami leaves were recovered during a search at their residences,” he said,
