Governor
Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has said that the new Judiciary complex
that is currently under construction will named after the prolific late
Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.
The complex which is scheduled for completion in September, was
announced when Okorocha visited the state Judge Benjamin Njemanze in his
Owerri office on Monday, where he sympathised with them on their loss
of what he described the Justice as a, "legal icon".
"We are determined to give Oputa a befitting burial because like the
late Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Odimegwu Ojukwu, Oputa made his marks in
Igboland. I urge you, Mr Chief Judge, to set up a committee for the
burial."
The Chief Judge decried the dilapidating condition of the court and called on the governor to renovate it.
