#bringbackourgirls: Hundreds Of Women Protest In Ghana

 
Hundreds on women turned out en-mass on the streets of Accra, Ghana on Sunday to protest the abduction of over 200 school girls in Chibok. The women staged a peaceful protest, chanting random #bringbackourgirls slogans and carrying placards with various inscriptions on them, all demanding the rescue and release of the abducted girls.
The protesting women made their way through various streets in Accra and then visited the Nigerian High commissioner to Ghana, where they submitted a petition signed by over 300 people, demanding that the girls be rescued as soon as possible, as every second spent not finding them was one second too many. The Chief Executive Officer, Young Educators Foundation, Eugenia Menson, who spoke on behalf of the protesting women called for the immediate release of the girls, adding that they had the fundamental human right to be educated and that right should be respected by everyone.

Reacting to the protest, the Nigerian High commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Ademola Onafonoka, thanked the women for their concerns and assured them that the relevant security agents and the Federal Government are doing everything possible to guarantee the safe return of the girls.

"Let me thank you for your out pouring of emotions, and solidarity for you empathy.

“I am assuring you as a father that our daughters will be found and brought back to all of us alive and well,’’ he said.

Over 230 school girls were kidnapped between April 14-15, 2014, by violent terrorist sect, Boko Haram, from Girls' Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno state.  The whereabouts of the students have been sketchy since the occurrence of the awful incidence, prompting mass protests all over the country and worldwide.
